Documents Required for Car and Bike Transportation in India
Vehicle transportation is not a paperwork-heavy process, but carriers move on public highways and cross state borders, so a small set of documents should always be ready at pickup.
Usually required
- Registration Certificate (RC) — establishes ownership of the vehicle being moved.
- Valid insurance copy — carriers and checkposts may ask for it during the movement.
- Photo identity proof of the person handing over the vehicle at pickup.
- Delivery contact details — name and phone number of whoever will receive the vehicle.
Sometimes asked for
- A copy of the pollution certificate, depending on the route and checkposts.
- An authorisation note if someone other than the owner is handing over or collecting the vehicle.
- Company documents when a vehicle is registered in a company name.
The condition record
Separate from documents, the condition of the vehicle is recorded at pickup — visible external condition and odometer reading. Take your own photographs too. It takes two minutes and gives both sides a clear reference at delivery.
Before you hand over
Remove personal belongings, keep fuel low, remove or secure loose accessories, and agree the key handover arrangement with our team. If anything about your route needs extra paperwork, we will tell you before pickup.
